anthro...

So my computer came to life today, projecting video-less, seemingly prompt-less speech in small, digital bursts, in what I can only assume was a bizarre assertion of its own independence. It did, however, afford me the opportunity to learn a new phrase in Chinese, "ta huo le," meaning "it came to life." Neat.

buffering

So, when I was younger there were a series of "you're so stupid" jokes (these followed a similarly unfunny series of blonde jokes and "you're so fat" jokes, though there were admittedly a few of these I found to be clever), one of which was "you're so stupid it takes you two hours to watch 60 minutes." I do believe this was far before the time of Hulu and Netflix, and now, thanks to the miracle that is really slow modern technology, this can actually happen. It is taking me several hours to watch the remake of Karate Kid. Though that also takes place in Beijing, so it's almost somehow appropriate.
